The network is a real directed graph — 767 junctions, service reservoirs, pumping stations and trunk main valves joined by 1,094 mains with real diameters, materials and ages. 72 hours of hydraulics are simulated at 15-minute resolution, so demand propagates outward from source and pressures breathe with the daily cycle.
A burst injects a pressure transient that attenuates and delays with distance along the pipes, and that signature is physically distinct. Inverting it turns pressure traces alone into a probability surface over every candidate pipe, converging on a 95% confidence ellipse — so crews are sent to the right place first.
